What if we came together, uniting people around the world to be seen and heard regardless of where they live or the demographic they are in; people standing for the face of modern business and the face of the modern world?
What if we could shift businesses and whole industries into a new era, a 21st century model in which purpose comes before profit, collaboration before competition, where people connect, learn and trade together to the common good?
Those were the principles behind the inaugural Unite on Purpose Global Summit, which brought together delegates from around the world for a 24-hour extravaganza of keynotes, masterclasses and forums based around uniting on Purpose, Brand, Education, the New Trading Economy and Impact.
This was the first of a series of 5 summits to be held on November 25th each year until 2024, with the goal of creating an extended community of one billion purposes! An ambitious target? Certainly, but you know, you don’t shift the world without audacious targets, and this event does not stand alone. This is part of a movement, a quiet revolution that is bringing people, businesses and society together, all around the new currency of purpose.
The summit was opened by Lila Kabassi, Chief of Programmes at the United Nations Global Compact and keynote speakers included Paloma Escudero, Director of Communications at UNICEF, Umerah Akram, Head of UK & Global Biz Development at ELITE (Part of the London Stock Exchange) David Katz, Founder and CEO of The Plastic Bank and Claudia Edelman, Founder & CEO of the We Are All Human Foundation.
More than 50 other business and cultural leaders from manufacturing, travel, education, sustainability, engineering, health and wellbeing delivered speeches, masterclasses or led forums.
For Focus7, a business that itself is purpose-driven and brand-led, this was an incredibly inspirational and uplifting event.
